Eastman & Hughes Café is based off of the Dock Eastman & Hughes Café, which was a black-owned business that was unfortunately destroyed during the Tulsa Race Massacre in 1921.
Although the owner, O.W. Gurley, was unable to rebuild this business after its destruction, this project was created with the approach of envisioning that it had been rebuilt and remains in business today.
